Your Chimney Works Hard—Make Sure It's Safe
No one should worry about safety in their own home—but a chimney that hasn't been swept or inspected in years is a real risk. Creosote build-up causes chimney fires. Cracked liners let carbon monoxide into living spaces. Missing caps invite water, animals, and debris. The good news: every one of these is preventable, and every one is fixable.
We're a CSIA-certified chimney service team. We sweep, inspect, repair, reline, cap, and waterproof chimneys across the Indianapolis metro—and we've been doing it for nearly 50 years.
What We Do
Every Chimney Service, One Phone Call
Chimney Sweeps
Annual sweep removes creosote build-up—the leading cause of chimney fires. Best done before heating season.
Chimney Inspections
Level I & II CSIA-certified inspections—Level I for routine, Level II when you've changed appliances or had a significant event.
Chimney Liners
Stainless steel and aluminum liners—required when liners crack, fail inspection, or you change fuel types.
Caps & Crowns
Stainless caps and rebuilt crowns to keep out water, leaves, and animals—and stop moisture damage at the top.
Chase Covers
Durable stainless steel chase covers replace rusted-out factory covers and prevent water damage to the chimney chase.
Tuck Pointing
Mortar joint restoration on the chimney exterior—essential for chimneys 30+ years old. Prevents water infiltration and structural damage.
Brick Repair
Damaged-masonry repair and replacement to restore chimney safety and appearance—color-matched mortar, weatherproof finish.
Flue Repairs
Diagnosis and repair of flue damage—preventing carbon monoxide leaks and chimney fires before they become an emergency.
Major Repairs
When your chimney has significant damage from age, weather, or structural issues, we have the skilled craftsmen and partnerships to handle complex repair projects. We'll assess the damage and walk you through all your options—including whether a fireplace insert might solve your problem at a lower cost—so you can make the best decision for your home and budget.
Chimney Rebuilds
Sometimes a chimney needs complete reconstruction from the ground up. While we specialize in fireplaces, we have the expertise and partnerships to manage full chimney rebuilds when necessary. Our team will present all available solutions at different price points to help you choose the approach that works best for your situation.

Why Regular Chimney Service Matters
Worth Doing Right
Fire Safety
Creosote build-up is the #1 cause of residential chimney fires. Annual sweeps remove it before it becomes an emergency.
Heating Efficiency
A clean flue draws better, burns hotter, and wastes less heat. Sealed dampers stop conditioned air from leaking out year-round.
Prevent Costly Damage
A $200 cap stops a $5,000 water-damage repair. Caught-early masonry cracks cost a fraction of full chimney rebuilds.
Peace of Mind
A documented annual inspection means you know your chimney is safe—every winter, every fire, every guest.
What Indianapolis Says
Real Reviews From Indy Homeowners
Chimney Service FAQs
How much does a chimney sweep cost?
Standard sweeps in Indianapolis run $200–$400 depending on chimney height, fuel type, and access. Sweeps that include a Level I inspection are typically $300–$500—and worth it for the documentation alone.
How often should I have my chimney swept?
CSIA recommends annual sweeping for wood-burning fireplaces and stoves, and at minimum every other year for gas. The biggest variable is how much you actually use the fireplace—heavy users need annual; once-a-year-on-Christmas users can usually go longer between sweeps.
What's the difference between Level I and Level II inspections?
Level I is the routine annual inspection—visible portions of the chimney and accessible parts of the appliance. Level II adds a video camera scan of the flue and is required when you've changed appliances or fuel type, after a chimney fire, or when buying or selling a home with a fireplace.
When do I need a new chimney liner?
Three common reasons: the existing liner is cracked or deteriorated, you're switching fuel types (e.g., wood to gas), or you're installing a high-efficiency insert that needs a properly-sized liner. Stainless steel liners typically run $2,000–$4,000 installed depending on chimney height and complexity.
What are warning signs my chimney needs immediate attention?
Smoke smell when the fireplace isn't running, water staining on chimney brick or interior walls, crumbling mortar joints, white efflorescence on exterior brick, animal sounds in the flue, soot falling into the firebox, or a downdraft that pushes smoke into the room—any of these is reason to schedule an inspection sooner rather than later. Call us at (317) 299-2229 if it feels urgent.
Do you waterproof brick chimneys?
Yes—we apply vapor-permeable sealants that stop water damage without trapping moisture inside the masonry. Indianapolis freeze/thaw cycles are brutal on brick chimneys; waterproofing is one of the highest-ROI services we do for chimneys 15+ years old. We pair it with a tuckpointing inspection to make sure the mortar joints are sound first.
