Pellet Heat—in Your Existing Fireplace

If you love the idea of pellet heat—automated feed, thermostat control, cheaper fuel than gas—but you already have a masonry fireplace you don't want to tear out, a pellet insert is the answer. The unit slides into the existing opening, vents through a stainless liner up the chimney, and gives you all the benefits of a pellet stove without the freestanding footprint.

Pellet inserts run on the same electric-controlled auger system as freestanding pellet stoves. Load the hopper, set the thermostat, and the unit feeds itself for 12–40 hours depending on burn rate. The result: real biomass heat, dramatically less hands-on work than a wood insert.

Like our pellet fireplaces and stoves, we carry pellet inserts from Quadra Fire and Lopi—the two brands worth carrying in this category. Our turnkey install includes the chimney liner, the electrical for the auger, and the surround/finish work.

Why a Pellet Insert

Use Existing Opening

No tearing out the masonry. Insert slides into the existing fireplace.

Thermostat Control

Set a target temp; the unit modulates feed rate to hit it.

Long Burn Time

A full hopper runs through the night without intervention.

Cheaper Fuel Than Gas

Pellet bags cost significantly less per BTU than natural gas in Indiana.
